Here is a spider that is living with a large web in my railing of my front porch. The spider's abdomen is about 3/4"(2cm) in diameter with the legs spread out it comes to about 2"(5cm). The web is about 1.5ft(45cm)x 2.5ft(75cm) filling in the opening in the railing with the classic round web style.

I live in the Denver Colorado area.

Its looks like some of the orb weavers but also looks like a few of Misumena spp. (Flower Spiders)...Have not found much that looks similar ...yet.

EDIT:Upon further research I am starting to lean toward Araneus gemma or Araneus gemmoides (Cat Faced Spider) They are found in Colorado and are said to appear late in the season...of which it is right now.
