Here are some of my blueys:

You are correct. They are blue tonge skinks. And yes, they are awesome.Well i dont know anything about those....... (other than there skinks right ???)
BUT THOSE LOOK AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was working on getting a group of them (5) imported, but a recent basement remodel and purchasing my Shinisaurus have pushed that back. I'll be getting the shinglebacks next Spring.Blueys are great!!! One of my favorite lizards!
Now when you get a shingleback Ill start drooling on your front step and whining at you and groveling at your feet.... dont tell me you have one or Ill be jealous.
Id give you all my snakes and my X. immanis for one!!!... I really really like those critters!!!I was working on getting a group of them (5) imported, but a recent basement remodel and purchasing my Shinisaurus have pushed that back. I'll be getting the shinglebacks next Spring.
Ummm. I'll have to pass. You don't want to know the hassle to get these guys here. But, since you hooked me up with roaches, I'll be sure to let you know when they finally arrive so you can come see them.Id give you all my snakes and my X. immanis for one!!!... I've not noticed tumors to be a common thing with these at all. The biggest issue I've seen with these and the monkey tail skinks (Corucia zebrata) is proper humidity levels and clean sheds. There are many cases where a bit of old skin will get stuck around the toes and eventually lead to problems, but tumors are not something that I've seen in all the blueys I've kept.Awesome skinks. I got to take care of a couple when I was working at petsmart a few years back. I know it's not the same as owning them but I still enjoyed it. They had a male with two big tumors on his back that made him slow and he struggled to do most anything. I gave him special care for the whole time I was there. I tried to get them to let me take him but they wouldn't come off their high price tag enough for me to afford him. Do tumors happen often in these and what causes them?
It's good to hear that tumors aren't very common with them. That poor fellow looked miserable pretty much all the time. I would pet his head and rub his chin so that he'd have some kind of attention. I know he liked being tweezer fed crickets because that was the only time he'd get excited. I was afraid of hurting him so I didn't hold him unless I had to. The tumors were a little past his front legs sticking up about 1/4"-1/2" off his back and he had a big dip right behind that as well. It was really noticeable to say the least. Petsmart's vet said the tumors wouldn't hurt him or cause him any problems but all you had to do was look at him to tell that was bs. So you can get a better visual, he was I'm guessing 10" give or take. Everytime I see one now I think of him and wish I could've kept him. Makes me want to go kick the owner of petsmart in the *ahem*.I've not noticed tumors to be a common thing with these at all. This upcoming spring will be the first time that I've had enough adults of different sexes. This will be the first time I'll try to get young from them. They are getting ready for winter cooling now.Hey J, your BTS's are beauties! We just got a Silver Tanimbar from Andrew Seike this year. We definitely would like more, they're so easy to care for compared other lizards. You have breeding plans or have you had success in that area yet?
