For some reason I'm thinking Curly hair but not positive. (Almost positive) (Brachypelma albopilosa)
Also Female. (Whats that pink stuff on the abdomen near the slit?)

I answered your question above.
Thanks, and I appreciate that, but I was looking for more then 1 person out of the 46 people who have looked at this thread to chime in.

BTW...the pink is some rub marks. The person I bought it from had it on some pretty nasty substrate.

Could you post a picture of the critter from an angle that's not so close-up? I would love to try to guess, but I can't even make out the color of it from these pics. Black? Greenish? Dark brown?

Lasiodora striatus

(Yay! I'm so proud of me. My very first guess ever on an "ID me" thread. Now if only I'm close....)

Looks just like my B.albopilosum, but darker and bigger.

P.S.

Respond to my PMS!

K..... So it *is* a B. albo? But.....the stripes....?

Aw hell. I'll just go back to thinking about my guesses on threads like these, instead of posting.

My guess based on the stockiness of the spider and the hairs on the legs that turn upwards , I'd say Brachypelma albopilosum. Lasiodorides striatus area bit more leggy, and the stripes are usally a orange/yellowish color.

Sounds good:drool: , I'm leaving town for the weekend though, put some on ice for me.

The beige ring around the carapace is usually a Brachy signature. Thats why I say Curly hair. I still stick to it.

hybrid brachy.??!! :D

I doubt that. If you look in the genus brachy page you may find some satisfaction. I saw a few that look just like the OP's picture.

The Laisodora has defined stripes with color. The OP's spider has the normal markings all t's have on the legs with no color change.

Genus Lasiodora and Lasiodorides are different and often get confused on the net. I know what spider everyone ment, but I have seen people confuse the 2 genus in the past. Just wanted to be clear, as I've seen people talk about Lasiodorides striatus and Lasiodora striatipes as if it was the same spider.
