It's a trapdoor spider, likely from the Ummidia genus. Search 'cork-lid trapdoor spider' on Google and you'll find lots of info about them.

Yeah there a lot stockier them dwarf tarantulas, not sure how closely related they are both Mygalomorphs. Trapdoors look awsome but I’d guess it’s a pet hole 🕳? Feeding time rocks .

It is hard to tell from this picture, but if this thing has a deep saddle-like depression on the top of tibia 3, then it belongs to the genus Ummidia (family Ctenizidae). If not, then a more accurate determination won't be possible from this picture.

On another note. Why are the majority of spider pictures used for identifications like pictures of UFOs? No one seems to be able to take a clear picture of the subject which leads to more questions and uncertainties than answers. :rofl:

Unfortunately that was the only pic she took of it.
