Ok it may be a little hard to tell from the pic but it wasnt an easy shot because there is web all in front of her so the flash has a nasty habit of reflecting off of it. She never comes out of her web except at night to either drink, poo or fling her food and unfortunately when i do catch her doing it I dont have a camera. So in order to get her up i ever so gently and carefully gave her a little brush with a small paintbrush which made her turn around real quick and charge after the brush and she took a couple strikes at it. She is in premolt now so I think she is a little grouchier than normal. Anyways here are some pics hope you enjoy

Very nice pics, P. irminia's are really cool.

They are more defensive than aggressive right? Looks like she is just defending her space.

Ya they are more defensive than aggressive. She has never just come charging out of her web after me and when she is out of her web, if she is disturbed she will just run back in. But since I took the liberty of sticking the paintbrush into the top of her web she was just defending her web and trying to get the intruder out. They are amazing looking tarantulas and she was my #3 tarantula that I bought. As soon as i saw a pic of the one on www.bighairyspiders.com I couldnt resist I didnt care if they were defensive/aggressive. This is a definate must have tarantula unfortunately they do hide alot, but you can still see them even when they are in there web. But when they do come out and walk around it is a site to see, as they walk differently than most of the other T's I have. Beautiful long front legs that have really nice orange lightning bolts to go along with their amazing speed.

Not to nitpick or anything, but what's the difference between an aggressive T and a defensive T?

A lot of people just call the ones that rear up aggressive. A lot of others call it defensive.

None of them actually charge at you aggressivly, they just attack something that comes near them (Defensive).

I don't care what term you use, but uh...More defensive than aggressive doesn't seem to work

Well I agree, as most people say that tarantulas arent aggressive they are defensive. But aggression is different than being defensive. There may be some tarantulas that when your hand is close it will intentionally come out and attack. but that could be classed as aggression, or being defensive to their space. But since some people say T's are aggressive and others say they are defensive I was just stating that I find that this T shows a defensive nature rather than an aggressive. My cobalt yes is more aggressive in my opinion than the suntiger as any disturbance whatsoever will send her into a tantrum whereas the suntiger doesnt really care until she is touched or her web directly. This is kind of a hard subject to explain and compare between because they are pretty closely related. Hope I made sense in that because im not sure if I did.

Agression is defined as:

1. Characterized by aggression: aggressive behavior.

2. Inclined to behave in an actively hostile fashion: an aggressive regime.

Defensive is defined as:

1. Intended or appropriate for defending; protective.

2. Intended to withstand or deter aggression or attack: a defensive weapons system; defensive behavior.

Seems to me there is a clear difference between the two.....

Rear uP strike repeadetly even when there is nothing there and nothing going on. She even does a little hop sometimes probably from the force of her flinging her fangs and front legs forward. She will run around with legs up, and i have even seen her chase a cricket around that was bugging her. She let it go a couple times, but when it kept bugging her she raised up and chased it off. Was one of the funniest things i have ever seen. She didnt eat it or kill it she just chased it off.

hey there, the don—

looks to me like you'd better start calling him "he" instead of "she"!
