I rarely see threat poses from my Ts. Generally they seem to be more flight than fight and would prefer to hide than proposition me during rehouses. I've never even see my AF OBT have an angry moment. So I want to ask you all a question: what is the meanest, nastiest, baddest threat pose you've ever received. Please please if you have them post pictures too!

I guess my C. schioedtei (when he was a juvie) and my AF G. pulchripes have been the only ones that have given me static. My pulchripes was relentless, slapping and all, but my schioedtei quickly ran into her burrow shyly when I touched his enclosure.

So, again, let's hear Your stories and see those pics!

Oh, my apologies, I don't have pics for my above story... I never managed to catch either on camera

This is about as bad as I've ever seen in my house - my sweet little G. pulchripes female when I was trying to gently coax her out of the water dish so I could clean and fill it. I don't even know if this is really even a threat pose. Either way... this is the closest thing I have seen from my gang.
My tiny 1/4" L. difficilis might have given me a threat pose the other day, but he is too tiny to be sure. His little front legs were straight up in the air, but he could have just been doing yoga.

My b smithi sling was one of the most ornery T's I've ever owned. When he was still a 2nd/3rd instar he gave my a threat pose once because I shined my flashlight on him with his enclosure closed. He also would flick hairs at the light too. Lunatic of a t

My G. pulchripes went from being "little" sweetums to threat postures when I open the enclosure. Both my Haplopelma are jerks, but it is expected.

No pics but I've had two encounters with T before I even joined the hobby. One time years ago working under a house installing an ac run, I ran into a full grown brown tarantula (no clue on species) that wasn't very happy I was in his area. He threw up a nice threat display so I left him alone and went about business. My other encounter with a wild T is actually one of the main reasons I began to get interested in these animals. At the age of around 18 at my aunts funeral I encountered a large tarantula
It was very slow moving and didn't seem bothered by me or the other people at the grave site. I had always heard American tarantulas were not highly venomous so I decided to try to pick it up. It was actually quite content just walking from hand to hand, never threw up a display or tried to skuttle off. I was amazed at the peacefulness of an animal that gets such a bad Rep.

EDIT: after a short Google search I'm fairly confident the docile one I handled was Aphonopelma hentzi.

The angry one seemed skinnier, not nearly as hairy but I don't see any other species native to Missouri, I suppose it could have been an escaped pet?

Once I was feeding another t and my head was at table level and as I am watching the t I am feeding, I keep hearing this loud tapping. After a few minutes I turned the flashlight to see my AF C. darlingi standing in full threat posture, striking the side of the enclosure periodically...apparently I was too close for her.

B. smithi actually got mad at me once when she was a juvie....so cute.

I'm sure some of you have already seen this on recent media but this is my new P. Cambridgei 3" that loves to throw threat poses because of the slightest disturbenses but will never bite or strike at anything. It'll just coward away if touched by tongs or a paintbrush. It likes to look scary but it is very unlikely it will actually bite you haha :) image.jpeg

An old video of my H.lividum disagreeing to the rehouse. lol

She was my first OW and not so smart jump from the NW species. I have a better video quality of 'The Queen' 0.1 Pelinobius muticus but I still have to find it. The Queen was a lot sweeter and more open to my suggestions. lol

image.jpg image.jpg My baby rosea if you touch her water dish...tried to distract her with a mealworm, she snatched it killed it then dropped it. Keeping her leg planted in 'her(?)' dish, maintained this position for a solid 45 minutes.
Love this moody baby. She's pretty small so it's honestly amusing.

What IS it about the water dish possession? My B. albopilosum will do a tug of war with me and her blasted water dish!

Tarantulas do some weird stuff with water dishes
Indeed they do. Really weird stuff. Of course to view photos of mine doing something weird with hers, you have to visit my "One tarantula, one cap" website. You must be at least 18 years old and have a valid credit card.

So I don't get gripes about thread derailing... here's my dearly-departed G. rosea having a temper tantrum when I tried to fill her water-dish. Apparently they really DO prefer things bone-dry.

Pissed of C.darlingi MM. Was about to introduce him to the female, not in the mood at all. Understandable, the poor guy got tagged after mating.

But he did a great job.
