Speaking of published pokie data, does anyone know if Andrew Smith's Poecilotheria book is completed yet for certain? Or any release date possibly?
I can't wait to get a copy!

Books of these kind have a tendency to be delayed for some reason. I hope it will be "in stores" this year.

Anyone know who the U.S. publisher is? It might be possible to find out the planned publication date from their website or at by contacting them.

Not sure if there's going to be a US publisher for the book. I think it may only be published in the UK and we're gonna have to import a few of them... :(

Your budding UK link, myself, would be willing to import them to you when they are realised. I'd need the money for them prior to buying though, as I'm a poor student.

Let me know closer to the date they're released

I think its Fitzgerald Publishing in UK that published his books before that will also publish the poke book.

I guess this explains why there's only single used copy available of his baboon spiders book and why it's going for $105.

I'm waiting anxiously as well. And willing to pay someone in the UK to send it to me (hint hint!)

A little off topic,
But I'd sure like to find a copy of Smith's book, Tarantula's of the US and Mexico. Very hard to find though. :(

Ernie,
You can order this book (and others) here
The UK Amazon also ships to the U.S. and has that book (and will presumably have the Poecilotheria book when it comes out). Shipping is even pretty reasonable considering it's coming from overseas. I'm going to give them a try.

Ironic that a book on *American* tarantulas is only available in the UK

The greatest part about placing international orders is you never have any idea exactly how much you spent unless you check the current exchange rate first :)

38.97 pounds shipped to my door from England, should be somewhere in the neighborhood of $50, not too bad for a technical book.

One of the beautiful things about going to the ATS conference was being able to purchase that exact book from him and to get him to autograph it :)

I didn't get the US and Mexico book as hard as it was not to. My dwindling interest in n/w T's kept my wallet shut (barely ;))

I did get this nifty pic of Andrew, Kenny (my oldest son) and me...oh, and Vishnu, Spider Bob's sweetheart P. regalis.

btw, Smith's Baboon spider book sounds very much worth purchasing. Anyone else here have it?

I know I look dorky in this pic but I was like all giddy and stuff. I have so much respect for the guys who have committed themselves to the study and collecting data on our favorite animals. Andrew, Rick, Steve, Martin, Volker, Soren and anyone else I may have forgotten. Much, much respect to you guys! :D
