There are five conclusive ways I can think of:

1. epiandrous fusillae - this works on every tarantula, though some are more difficult to tell than others.
2. sexing from a shed skin - also works on every tarantula, very small ones can be difficult/impossible to do w/out magnification
3. palpal bulps - tibial hooks also work, but not every species has them, if it has bulbs it's a mature male
4. eggsac construction - self-explanatory here
5. color - a few species have a dramatically different colored mature male

3,4 & 5 are all limited cases, the only ones that work for everything are 1 & 2.

I'm not certain I understand your question....what have you looked up, and what was too complicated?
If you are looking for a MATURE male, then it's very simple to tell *most* species apart. The males have tibial hooks under their first set of legs. In most species, they are quite visible. They will also have much larger pedipalps, the ends of the palps look like little boxing gloves. That is as simple as I can make it for you :)

Failing all of the above, if you want a simple, begginers, yet not really correct way, just buy the scrawniest gangliest one that has a legspan of above 5".

You could spend the extra money if it means that much to you and order a gauranteed sexed spider from a reputable dealer.
