so i went over to my storage unit last night to pay my bill... and in the parking lot i found the biggest bullfrog i had ever seen.. stretched out it was easily 8" +..

i didnt want it to get ran over so i went to move him into the bushes by the lil stream.. and he did a particular behavior..

he arched his back like a cat.. and whatever side i put my hand to he would put his head down and lean over towards my hand...

i was just wondering if anyone else had seen similar behavior before or had it on video.. i searched youtube but couldnt find anything.. but i just thought id share and it was really interesting..

I have seen both frogs and toads do that, especially when confronted by a snake. It makes them look bigger and more menacing. It's pretty funny unless it's an African Bullfrog or a Pacman Frog doing it, since those guys mean business, and that posture isn't a bluff; they WILL follow it up with a painful bite!

Pwilson5, I find it kinda odd that a bullfrog would allow one to approach that closely without bounding away. Sounds like it was already stressing from something. Hope it made it okay and thx for sharing. :)

Have also seen this. What I have not seen despite harassing many bullfrogs is them screaming as in many youtube videos. Must be only the occasional frog that resorts to that.

(that doesn't count them yelping as they hop into the water, btw)
