Ambush bugs

Just wonderin', how often do you amaricano's find these bugs?
Are they fairly common?
Also wondered if anyones ever bred them :)

Phymata are pretty common everywhere... at least in my experience. I have found them in 3 states, California, Montana, and New Mexico. Once on a sunflower, once on a flower stalk of a yucca, and once under a piece of bark.

All 3 times I have found them they have been pairs and I never had any success with hatching out the eggs they lay. I believe they only have one generation per year, but...I dont remember where I heard that.

Also...they squeak or make a high pitched buzzing noise when you pick them up. :cool:

Lol bet that sounds funny.
Did a search on this forum and it seems that the only problems with these are getting the eggs to hatch and the nymphs to feed :(

Ambush bugs look amazing, never seen one in person though. There probably aren't any that are native to Britain, but I hope someone can say otherwise.

Nah i dont think we have any ambush bugs here. Would it be possible for anyone to send me some ambush bug ova to here in the UK?
