So when my male d. medius was in PM, (didn't know until after the fact) I gave him a cricket. He didn't seem interested at first, but when I checked later that night, he apparently just ripped said cricket in half and dropped it beneath him on the ground. Is this common behavior if they're not hungry? I was totally taken aback because I've never seen anything like it.

Yeah pretty normal, they'll do the hands up position and back away from smaller things. If the cricket approaches more it'll be dispatched.

From bigger things they just run, I've seen some videos of Euphyrnichus sp fighting with a persons fingers but that's about it.

@wizentrop , got anything to say about the ratio of skittish/defensiveness of different species?
