Sadly the picture is blurry but he seems to have a different snout than the other fellahs. Maybe it's just the picture but it looks a bit longer and "sharper" for lack of a better word. I love African Dwarf Frogs. They're great little frogs. I don't care for the Clawed variety as much but that's just personal preference. One day I'll buy some again. It's been a good 10 years since I last had 'em. Always loved feeding them blood worms from the pipette =p.

His snout was the same it's the angle 100% sure its a dwarf clawed frog I used to own them. The color is bizarre mabye its a melanistic individual?

It's quite possible. I've never seen one so dark before. He still appears to have all the speckles regardless of the colour correct? Good thing I didn't stumble across him, wouldn't of been able to resist :D. Never seen any colour variation in these guys before unlike the clawed variety. Interesting. In my experience when sick/dying they went a lighter colour, not darker.

Perhaps Xenopus borealis or amieti. I've seen a few US/UK keepers baffled about why their X.laevis is darker than usual

Good guess but I don't think it's that. The eyes of the Clawed variety vs. the Dwarf variety are fairly different and a pretty good give away. Clawed Frogs have eyes a bit further up on top of the head instead and are more "domed" for lack of a better term.

I was poking around a bit and noticed that there actually are indeed Albino African Dwarf Frogs. Huh, cool!

So a melanistic individual isn't a far fetch either.

Also the nerd in me wants to point out there is no Dwarf Clawed :D. It's just African Dwarf Frog.

If I had the room I would've bought the dark one but I didn't. Guess this is a preview of a new morph.
