It's an excellent place for anything guinea pig. Also, they should grow back. You just have to make sure it's eating/drinking okay. Also, was it due to an injury or an infection? If it's because of an infection then you will need antibiotics.
If it's not eating/drinking then you will need to syringe feed it until its teeth grow back.
Never heard of them losing teeth like that but I was shocked to read that you can clip their teeth as you would your finger nails(though with the proper foods and tooth alignment this is not necessary). I have had mine for about 2 years now and just cliped its teeth for the first time a few days ago. They still weren't too long but after reading about it in "Guinea Pigs for Dummies" was curious. It felt very weired to say the least. Strange animals they are, very strange.
Their teeth do grow their entire lives. They should never be trimmed by someone who isn't a professional because they might split. They should have a never ending supply of grass hay/timothy hay so their teeth will be ground down naturally. For all those who have guinea pigs, I highly suggest you visit the site I linked to in my original post. They have medically accurate information regarding guinea pigs and their message boards are fantastic.
BTW, I know what I'm talking about because I have worked directly with a guinea pig rescue organization for almost 2 years.
I think she just chomped on her water bottle way too hard she was always yanking the thing and pulling on it/playing with it. Thanks for the info. She has two stubs up top and to little ones down bottom. I shredded some carrots for her and damped her pellets so they were soft she really seemed to like that. Glad I noticed when I did. I thought she was looking thinner. Well, it did her good anyhow, she was too damn fat for her own good. Talk about forced dieting! UGH! Thanks everyone.
