I have attempted to artificially incubate fertile goliath eggs a few times without success. The first attempt was in fall of 2007, but those were from WC females. 2008 resulted in 1 fertile clutch (development was seen in some of the eggs) that died during incubation. This year resulted in 2 fertile eggsacs. One died while incubating. The other was left with mom as I had given up for the time being and wanted to get some gestation and incubation data to compare later when I tried to artificially incubate the eggs again. This time the eggsac was successful. The details of the eggsac are posted in the breeding reports. So after a number of attempts, 3 were definitely fertile, and one was successful! 107 1st instars!

Congrats, 2 years is really not that long :worship: I read through your breeding report but I'm much more interested in seeing what the adults look like, and what the slings will look like when they reach 2nd instar. Please share if you have any clear pics of them. Great work again !

Later, Tom

Congrats on the sac, that's wonderful. It's too bad I'm in Canada, but it's still great nonetheless.

wish i could get my hands on a few...
congrats!
maybe the success came from leaving it with the mom?

Possibly. It sure didn't hurt the situation. I was tired of killing viable eggs, so I figured if something went wrong while she was guarding the eggsac, I wouldn't have to feel as guilty.
