I noticed my AFS seems to have a rather red tipped stinger after her latest molt. I do not see any bumps on her claws. Can AFS have red stingers, I thought that was a emp thing
That part is generally referred to as a telson if I’m not mistakenI'll take some pics later. And by stinger, I just mean the tail tip, like the bulb at the end.
There are numerous AFS that can have a red telson... some of the more popular ones : J.cyaneus, H.spinifer, G.swammerdami, H.longimanus, C.tristis. I believe H.silenus can have a somewhat dark brown/purpleish telson under certain lighting. AFS that have a red telson as adult, typically have a white/cream colored telson as a juvenile.I noticed my AFS seems to have a rather red tipped stinger after her latest molt.
