All I can really chime in on is that you likely aren't getting C. paganus, as they aren't even in the hobby.

Becca's right. I just went down this road here about a week ago. I have what I beleive is an H. vonwirthi (Vietnamese Tiger). Take a good look at those pictures because they look so much alike. The paganus does not exist in the trade.

The H. vonwirthi that I have act like most other Haplopelmas. Very agressive and not handleable. They are obligate burrowers so give it lots of room to dig. The one thing I notice about this T vrs other aggresive T's is that this one will stay mad a lot longer than the others.

Here's the thread on this. It should clear up a lot. :)

I have a big ol' 6" female :D Keep them on deep moist peat. I keep mine on about 6.5-7" of substrate and she burrowed down to the bottom within the first night.

My cyriopagopus paganus thai tiger during a rehouse out for a stroll and mind you this species whatever you choose to call it has a very bad temperament until it is settled in its proper enclosure once it can dig in 5 to 7 inches of substrate you will never see it and it will calm down very much

The necros on these boards are crazy lol. Maybe they should auto-archive or lock after a certain amount of inactivity. Beaut of a spider though.

Like some others have said, your T is most likely not a C. paganus, but rather a C. vonwirthi or C. longipes. Care for all Cyrios/Haplos is the same. Keep them on deep, moist substrate, as they are obligate burrowers.

Good luck with him/her! I’m actually going to be getting a T labeled as “Thai Tiger” sometime this week....

I bought one of these from my local pet store. Labeled as "Thai Tiger". Come to find out, it was wild caught and the pet store guy was buying tarantulas from one of the reptile places online. It was sold to him as "Thai Tiger" or "C. Paganus" as well. All of the tarantulas he ever purchased were always shipped in deli cups with substrate, which is why I don't typically buy from him anymore. If I'd known it was wild caught, I probably wouldn't have bought it, at least not when I'd only got my first tarantula a month and a half before that. He or she is gorgeous, but I never see her. A few days ago was the first time I'd seen her in months and I only got to see her foot after she snagged her cricket lol
