wondering how this can be acheived, i need to know all beforre i even considering such a thing, would be a shame to get one or two and have them die due to parasites or something worse, i've been reading a ton about them recently... i keep seeing wc ones for around 225.00-350.00 ea., i don't know it seems really risky, anyone ever try this with a wc emerald tree boa?, thanks --JEFF

Some emeralds acclimate ok but quite a few don't. They are not a very good species for WC as a whole. CB ones on the other hand or even long term captives do much better. The big thing is get one already feeding and parasite free or chances are it won't do well.

Once acclimated they are relatively easy to keep and make a great display snake.

re

thanks phil, i have found 1.1 pair that born from a wc mother(suriname) for 300.00 each, i think this would be a better way to go ehh?, yeah i would strickliy be keeping them as display pets and i n the hopes of breeding a pair someday, i was looking GTP's also, they seem like they would be a better choice, just something about the ETB's that draw my eye , ever since i fisrt saw one around 6 years ago it was an animal i never thought i could afford but it seems prices have dropped quite a bit on a lot stuff which is great, if i do decide to do this i'm going to use helix radiant heat panels, and a temperature control system need ad all this up too, its gonna be while lol, thanks--JEFF

Unless you have previous experience dealing with the establishing wild caught emeralds, I'd definitely stay away from them. You will end up spending the same amount of money that a captive bred animal would cost on establishing the wc animal. Wc animals tend to be very defensive and usually never calm down. Not that you will be handling them, but striking at the glass constantly will present other problems. The price of captive bred animals have dropped significantly. If you go with captive born be sure to get them checked for parasites. As Phil said make sure they have at least five meals in them (captive bred or born). Also house them separately. Pairs should only be kept together during breeding season. I have a pair of GTP pythons and I would recommend these snakes too. They are awesome. Also the bright color morphs of amazon tree boas are spectacular and worth looking into.
