Yep, I think that was after 2 molts. One while being in my care. The others haven't grown so drastically, though. This one just blossomed :D

She took all day and I mean allll daaay to moult. Not to mention that she waited weeks to get started. But she finally moulted and it was fascinating to watch. Most of the T's in this house do it over night or when or we can't see. But Marge decided to throw modesty and dignity to the four winds and show everyone how it is done. I always thought she was a girl, but after looking at her moult, I am 100% sure she is a female. She's such a great T too. Thought I would share the pics of this event.

Congrats!

I like how it seems she molted on a nice, cozy leaf :)

The weird part is that she made a web mat this time when she never did in the past. She made herself a nice cozy spot to moult on.

Great pictures! I'll have to tell my mom that someone named their tarantula after her. My mom's name is Margie. Not too common around here!

Thanks! She is beautiful.....I can't wait for her to fully stretch herself out so I can see a difference in size. She really did make quite a web mat. I never gotten a chance to document a moult by pictures before so this was fun! Having a good camera helps too.

Hehe She did not "hair" the mat much or any from what i can see, i find if there undisturbed for a long time before moulting they don’t seem to feel the need to do it.

This species is just so neat. I got her at a reptile show last winter and she was about 2 or 3 inches in size. I have never seen a full grown A. geniculata so I am wondering if she is near full size now. The leaf in the genital opening is just so prominent with this tarantula that there is no missing it is a female.
She is still sitting completely still in the same spot she was in last night which conserns me a little. She must be so exhausted! My husband sits and watches this one the most. He was telling me that he found it facinating to watch the hairs pop up on her abdomen as they were drying. Sounds like my friend's husband watching his newborn son blinking because he didn't know they had eyelashes at birth. It is sure great that he has gotten so interested in our tarantulas lately. :)

Hello. I went downstairs to take some pics and noticed there were two A. genics in the cage. It molted some time in the night. Anyways..I was trying out a new dig. cam and thought I'd share the pic. I think the pic is very pleasing to look at..I am using it as my desktop background.
