Hello,
Toady I went to ship a box, one of hundreds that I usually ship
but today was diferent,
New Lady took my box and after she finished prosessing
she, (I couldnt believe my eyes  ) "basketballed" it in package bin true the whole room with rest of packages
I exclaimed "Why did you do that for!!!!??"
she looked at me and in high tone of voice "what!!?, that was nothing compare what will be done to it in transit later, but why!?? whats in it??"
Me: Cristal vase!, but It doesn't matter whats in it, why treat so careless?? 'note she never asked me if it was fragile hazardous or perishable'
she: Why??! whats in it!??,
Me: Whatever it is, I want to know that ANY of my packages wont get kicked from here to California
me  , I guess sumthings just fly right over the head
NOW, I give you Arachnohobbyists a heads up
pack your spiders well, cuz I saw a very mean lady toss my box 5ft in the air and even gave me so much crap about it
Just my experience and I though to share with all of you
Thanks for reading,
Anastasia

That sucks. Im sorry! I knew that they arent really "careful" with stuff. But to do that with your package, and right in front of you nonetheless, was disgusting. I guess we should all invest in some neon green FRAGILE stickers or s/t.

Was it really a vase or were you being sarcastic to the lady? Just wondering? I hope that whatever it was, (vase, slings, cookies,) makes it to its destination intact. I would hate to hear that a bunch of high end slings were killed by slack @$$ shipping employees. Wish you the best.

he is so worry for the spider that he is plan to ship

that he asked me to send him prepared package

You should file a complaint with her supervisor.
Well, I wish that would solve the problem, but it wont
so, like I said, pack ur precious spiders to survive tossing trips
all I can say

Part of what I do at work is shipping. I've heard from multiple delivery drivers that people who work behind the scenes rarely pay any attention to the word "fragile" on a package. This doesn't mean that they play soccer with boxes during their breaks, but a lot more "basketballing" goes on where you can't see it. Delivery drivers and retail clerks are usually trained to treat all packages with care, but once it gets to the loading/unloading people, that training goes out the window.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, though. Just follow this advice:

pack ur precious spiders to survive tossing trips

The people at our post office do the same thing. First they hand it too the 199 year old in the back who shakes like a 9.0 earthquake, then they get it to the lady in the front with a somewhat manly voice, and she flips it 10 or 100 times till she finds the label.

Ive asked them to be careful, but have been blown off every time.

Always followed by.... "what critter you got in this here box today?"

So its not like they dont know whats in the boxes....

Have fun,
Alex

You absolutely do have the ability to speak with and file a complaint with the Postmaster at that location. Remember that U.S.P.S. is NOT a governmental agency - they are a paid, retail service. They do not want you to suddenly stop funneling money into their corporation, by going to a competing service. Remind the Postmaster of your options; and how much you spend there, every month.
We have also noticed that our packages get better treatment when we buy the stupid insurance. (They hate to give refunds - it's a money making business);) IMHO it's better to fork over the extra $14 for the insurance - than to lose a very valuable shipment to careless, overpaid orangutans that they call employees. :wall:

p.s...The monkeys at our local post think that I'm continually mailing hand made chocolates. They are delicate, temp. sensitive and perishable. {D ;P

p.s.s....I can't even make no-bake cookies...{D {D {D {D
