AAHHH!! Pinhead crickets!!

Is this bad?, plz tell me its not bad. I really hope its not bad. I have a billion little crickets in my H. Liv enclosure. I really dont want to have to disturb him. He just finally got settled in good. And he is a bit cranky. Will they hurt him?? I only see it as a threat if he molts. Any one have this problem? What do I do? Is it bad?? Nope, not bad. They'll drown themselves in the water dish and you can scoop them out.

Yeah, people ask this all the time, and if you search the forums, you would find tons of threads on it.

It won't hurt the spider. Put a water dish in there that is level with the substrate and they will drown themselves in it.

you can take them out to feed to your slings which is what I would do it shouldnt disturb him too much taking them out at least not as much as a bunch of tiny chirping crickets would

Crickets don't chirp as nymphs. Only adult males chirp.

Haha, only mature crickets chirp. You could try getting them out and feeding them to slings, but I don't know how your H. lividum would take to the tweezers picking around in its enclosure like that.

Wanna feed them to your slings? Here's a method I used to get them out of my AGB cage. Drill a 1/4" hole in the side of a disposable plastic food storage container. Make the hole as close to the bottom of container as possible. Add a few dry dog kibbles to the box and snap on the lid. Place the container in the spiders cage with the hole as close to possible to the substrate. Crickets go in...plug hole with thumb..remove them from cage.

been there done that..

what i did, was took a plastic cup, cut it down until it was about 2 in, filled it halfway with water, then burried it just enough so the crickets could walk right in. they fall, and obviously cant get out and drown. very scary thing though.

I found this out before I even realized pinhead crickets would be a problem. I left a female cricket in one of my scorps' tanks and it wasn't eaten so I took it out the next day. A week or so later, I saw a bunch of dots in the water bowl and they were dead pinheads.
