Before I left for my californian adventure I lived in canada, and I had a snake, "His" name was casper, and he is a ghost/candy cane cornsnake...type thing.. [my first snake hes..odd] That was three years ago. So time for the suprise.

I just got back home from said adventure, this is my first night home, and I am inspecting my snake [nocturnal observation is usualy bet to see him/her when its active without handaling] Now keep in mind this snake has NEVER been in the company of any other snake never mind its own species since its purchase date at which time it was just a hatclin'; During my inspection I discovered what I can only describe as a Mishapped "egg" I have seen his..waste before and have never seen anything like this, It is around the same size as a robin egg, same texture as an egg and on the thinner spots has the yellow egg yolk colouring, Deffinatly a dud if it is an egg, and its now removed. so my question is, Do some snakes jsut drop random unfertalized eggs? Is Casper now a Casprett? I will have a photo of this...."thing from the dark side of the cage" tommorow upon the location of my webcam beign found...in the mean time, Corns=live birth egg birth... comments... suggestions...help?

It is probably a female ;), and yes snakes can lay dud eggs. Happens all the time. They usually lay more than 1 though.

As I fiddle with the new changes to Arachnoboards, [well not new just new to me dang I hate it when they change it..fumbles for the upload thing] and the kodak easy share softwear I think I'll post a bit on what I find a very far fetched story, but perhaps I am wrong.

My dad decided to go for a walk this morning, and upon this walk he decided to stop and consult a vet, And this is the story he returns with: apperently snakes can be impregnated by mice during or near ther shedding period:wall: [Gentics as I know it out the window] and they can 'occasionly' produce offspring from this, from very long mice to fuzzy snakes... Now this IS apperently a Vet, so ugh...anyone got any info on the mega doomer mouse snake hybrid?

Edit: My photos need to be rezied and its time to eat, so it'll have to wait.

I had a copperhead (female) that while coming out of brumation laid a very large slug. Yes, it is a bit disturbing but totally natural...

I really hope you don't mean that your Copperhead laid an egg, since they give live birth lol. What you saw was probably a chunk of urates.

I didn't mean she laid an egg. Even live birthing snakes can pass a slug if its unfertilized. It is an unfertilized ova.

Well to update this fun thread, I offered Casper a hopper this weekend, in 24hrs it wasn't eaten so I removed it and froze it, Also inspected the cage and Decided to clean it. The Snake, was offered a Nice warm bath since I noticed some old skin flakes sticking on it [apperently its last molt was a bad one but I wasn't here to witness it] And the tank was well due for it, After scrubbing cleaning and replacing everything, Casper proceeded to lay another jelly bean.. this time bigger, I am wonder, could the food refusal have something to do with this umm.. candy factory cycle?
