I confess, I'm lazy -- I don't always remember to mist cages on a daily basis. (Not that I've ever had any of the real humidity loving species.)

But I was wondering -- I have one of those drip bottles for the chameleon I used to own. Do you guys think it'd be alright to turn it on so it drips slowly in? Maybe in combination with the "False bottom" idea. It doesn't wet the ground too fast, but it's a lot of water over time. Maybe set it up to drip right into the water dish so it just flows over the side?

(If you've never seen one of these drip things, it's about a drop every 1 or 2 seconds when on low)

It just seems like it'd be easier to fill it up and let it drip through out the day and repeat it when needed.

You'd get more water out of it than misting.

This is our thread on how we do our set-ups. Misting is very overrated. With your set-up like we descibed you can quite literally pour a bit of water directly onto the top layer and it will drain through to the bottom layer. The water will then slowly evaporate and leach through to the top layer providing more than adequate humidity levels. You don't want so much humidity as to condensate on the glass/plastic cage. This is how people have mold problems. Water dishes also give off humidity through evaporation so keeping the water dish full will help a great deal.
