what is the scientific name? Macrothele sinensis or Macrothele calpeiana? how to differentiate them? thx

The scientific name of the Chinese one is Raveniola sinensis. Macrothele calpeiana occurs in Spain and North Africa.

There are a lot of funnel-web spider species in China....

Macrothele guizhouensis, holsti, taiwanensis, hunanica, palpator, simplicata, yunnanica / Raveniola sinensis / and most likely a lot more....

icefish, this is a problem for me too. Overall image, they all look alike.
If anybode can post a determination key for Macrothele.... i would be more then gratefull !

hi, Macrothele sp. can be distiguished by abscence of presence of a lyra. And it a lyra is present it´s the question how it´s shaped. There are several other thing to look at, but the mentioned are the most important.. if anyone wants to send me some Macrothele (dead or alive) to ID them just email me ;)
