ok I got one of these little guys at the reptile show and it looks like its trying to burrow. I heard that these guys were more of an oportunistic burrower. is this guy going to burrow and I'll never see it again? also what do you guys think of this species.

nah...mine dug a little hole, and then just left it there.
She's always out in the open.

My little female is a burrower, though she's never really happy with one after she finishes. So, she makes another. Most end up with 2 entrances, sometimes 3. Luckily for me she has always burrowed along the sides of her enclosure so I can always see her... Touching wood now so not to jinx her burrowing habits ;)

They're a good looking T. mine gets a little fiesty some times (of all the ones I have it's the only one I've ever been bitten by.) But she doesn't burrow much just makes little divets.

I guess I should have put that in the last post. I think it was a dry bite. It was just above the first knuckle on my middle finger. It swelled a little and felt numb for about half a day. Then it was fine. I keep mine alittle on the dry side, about like a redknee. It seems to like it.

may be it wasn't may be she didn't implant alot of venom but if that caused that then I belive she did put some venom in.
any ways mine is still 2" and it is very nice acctually. Yep it burrows at least mine does and she's happy well any ways as long as she is happy and eating. have a nice day

Mine bulldozes a lot of dirt around, but doesn't dig a burrow like a Cobalt. You can see her all the time.

I keep my moderatums on bone dry substrate with a water dish available at all times. moderatums are reputed to bite readily from what I hear although mine have never tried, they tend to run and hide.

Mine just sits there...I even handle mine whenever...
Maybe it's just my A. moderatum though, but she has to be the most docile out of all my T's.

My little female A.moderatum has never been anything other than a sweetheart, never even attempting to bite. Matter of fact, the only ones of the Aphonopelma species I've ever seen give me a threat display so far has been A.seemanni. I handle all my other Aphono's easily and fairly often

Mine doesn't burrow at all unless she's startled. Most of the time she's just stretched out relaxing in her substrate.

We have done "power" feeding with quite a few different species with pretty good results. Our T. blondi male, or what is left, grew to maturity in about a year same with our Greenbottle. Our Chevies were very fast growing also. Our G pulchra we have had for about a year and a half and it is 3-4 inches from a s'ling, not bad for that species.
