So went to a new reptile store to get feeders for my axolotl and the tarantulas there I cried they were all SO skinny and sad to see. There was an Avicularia metallica juvenile in a short inch and half tall cup sticking its legs out the air holes over and over I wanted to save them all but I just grabbed this one brought it home made a quick enclosure since I had a graduation party I come home and it was facing down eating a cricket I dropped in when I left I gave it another one and it grabbed it but once it moved it lost its grip and keeps slowly sliding down. It won’t let me upload a video to show you but here’s a pic. Is this normal I only have 1 other arboreal and he has no problems. Also his feet pads are barely green at all. Thanks guys!!

Possibly pre molt or it was endlessly wandering and never settled in and wore its foot pads out . I probably won’t be trying my lps again , spent $200 and all I got left is one curly hair . Sadly we can rescue these prisoners but often the damage is done due to pet trade or being wc. And there quickly replaced . Not saying you shouldn’t buy them though, mine just sells sick Ts .

I know my friend told me if I buy them they just replace them but it was just so sad!! If I wasn’t buying from a reputable online seller this week I probably would have left with a bunch more. I’m never going in there again😢

First off, skinny isnt sad to see, its a normal part of every ts life...especially arboreals.

Second, this t doesnt look skinny.

If its at the back end of its molt cycle it is perfectly normal. But even if its not, its not something i would worry about.
It had just eaten but u think it’s abdomen looks ok? I’m used to G pulchra abdomens and P machala booties which are a little juicier. Maybe I need to look at more arboreal pics but the others were literally nothing! I thought at least the size of their carapace? Thank u now I don’t feel as bad!!

looks nice and plump....you cannot compare arboreals to heavy bodied terrestrials, theyre built completely different.

yeah sorry that’s pet shops for you pet supplies quit selling them because employees were handling them . And why I don’t know . 🤷
I could have gotten 5-7 slings online instead but o well. Now I’m broke again I’m trying to look for jobs no luck and most these delivery jobs require a new working vehicle something so can’t afford.
your t might be healthy don’t worry yet.

If u live in Utah I got some good job connections! I’m using my tax refund to get these ones I’ve been wanting forever! I will say this one I thought would b the most docile thing had me shaking so bad with the speed it turned and grabbed my paintbrush😂 had to readjust how I moved him.

Never buy from stores for rescues
I learned that with jumpers it took me awhile to realize it’s everything there!! Some of the pictures I’ve seen how they keep mass amounts of WC spiders actually made me sick!! I know I shouldn’t have I just encouraged them to replace with another one. I’ve just never seen one acting like that before! I just got home he’s doing ok he’s just grooming away!! I would say 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 inches diagonally I’ll need to find a ruer of something to get an accurate size! Should I get a bigger enclosure and add more up top for this size? I know it’s not great but I built this one in 5 min I had a party to go to. Or should I let him molt out a time or 2 in this size?

20 years I didn’t buy from a pet shop until last year and it was a mistake I should’ve tried to find a local seller on this site. I don’t understand why my parents don’t care if I order roaches online but they still angry about buying more Ts to eat said roaches .
albos? you need to look harder, theyre super cheap.....you could get 8-10 for that price
I don’t have the money to order now I was just checking for when I can , lowest I saw was $10 each on sites I never heard of .

Hahaha no you do need more T’s for the roaches!! I have so many feeders they are becoming pets, yesterday I saw a roach and a cricket molt!! I was so excited, my daughter looked at me like I was crazy. I seen some T albos súper cheap let me go see which site it was I always look because my T albo has such a crazy feeding response so I bought another sling, and want one more still! Let me go screenshot for you I’ll be right back

Poor babies.
Keep us updated with the T you rescued please!! I hope they make it.
I kind of Jerry rigged the enclosure since watching her fall and lay there and try to climb so hard so it’s more crowded then I like but I woke up she made some webbing but is back at the bottom I fed her again but had to drop right in front of her, lol the cricket smushed itself behind the extra cork bark so I shoved some paper towel behind so they can’t fit… not very pretty but I want her to find her prey! Here’s some pics I’m hoping she just molts sooner then later so I can do a better setup!

It sounds to me like it's getting really close to molting. Id clear out any clutter that could hurt it in a fall and let it web up a spot so it can molt

So I’ve been watching Dave’s little beasties sometimes he puts cork bark along 2 sides flat pieces. Should I do that so the bottoms open or should I just glue some more plants on the other sides instead? I bought a bunch of stuff so I haven’t done it yet it’s coming today. Thank u for the help!!
