so my Forensics class was learning about different hairs and studying them under the microscope a few days ago, and my teacher asked me about tarantula hairs. i agreed to bring in a sample of urticating bristles, but i probably would have brought some in anyway since i wanted to.

that night, i tried to gently coax my P. cancerides with a vial, but all she did was give me a lot of threat postures and she even knocked the vial out of my hand at one point. anyway, had far better luck with my P. antinous, who acts very timid besides being a hair-kicker.

i set up a dry mount slide in class. of course it was completely different than mammal hair since it's not technically hair, but it was still an interesting little side-track. some of the other students came up to look and thought it was cool. one of the girls freaked out when she looked, which was pretty funny. on our test today, the bonus question was to sketch a tarantula hair.

i only saw type III, i'm not sure if they have others.

i think every time i've ever been seriously haired, it was my antinous. i tried to get a good photo shoot the last time she molted, and i ended up getting a breath full of them.
