What is the difference b/t a calico and a normal ball python ?

Calicos have varying amounts of white on their sides as they grow. The babies come out with a noticeably different pattern (yellow borders to all the saddles and "floating" side patterns where the brown does not break up the black background.

The most sought after calicos will be born with high amounts of pink. As the calico matures the pink turns to white. Some will just a few white scales. Others will have large portions of white as though someone took and eraser and removed all the color from the blotches along the side.
