Hey guys I've had these Eastern Painteds for a few months now and they are doing GREAT. I upgraded to a larger tank and now they are enjoying the deeper water. There are a few places where I'm afraid they could get stuck in this new setup. It's a naturalistic tank so I have a semi root system set up with driftwood for the crayfish and minnows to hide in. So far the turtles having been venturing down there and staying for a minute or so, then coming back up. Am I just being paranoid? Also, they are rapidly getting bigger at 3"+ and almost 2". My smaller guy seems interested in chomping the fake plants now, as he never did before. Should I be worried about him trying to eat them?

Thanks for the help.

Mine spend lots of time under the water, just chilling out at the bottom of the tank- they often sleep down there. As long as they cant push anything and have it collapse on them, or get suck anywhere, they should be fine. As they get larger you will probably notice them trying to move things around a lot more.

Do you feed them greens? If not, I would start giving them an assortment of leafy greens, and that should get him to stop going after the fake stuff.

So far they won't touch any greens. Only pellets and live food
