Conway, ive seen you on the mantiskingdom forums... ive wondered how close you live to me, im over in yeovil... Anyway, just so you know, its a female that died about 5 months ago... males have a diamond shaped pro-thorax, females have a backward curved prothorax. Anyway get in touch with Martin French at bugzuk.com - he'll be able to help you out with your dessicata problem.
Anyway im glad you all lke my photo's please visit my site if you have the time ,and ill post some images later today (its 3am and im on dial up :( ) should be getting some creoboroter meleagris today and i got some green bud wings yesterday.... ill try and get some images of these guys asap.

Im sorry about the quality of some of these, the images are as follows:
1. Phylocrania paradoxa
2. Pseudocreobroter whalbergii male
3. Creobroter Sp. (any ideas?)
4. Gongylus gongloids male
5. Hierodula grandis male (please excuse the quality, but its the section of the wing you can see that is interesting - the wing came out irridesant and now goes from a green, to shiney gray, to light purple....odd).

Hi Sheldon,

I'm glad you like them! I hope you manage to breed them. They are really good pics as well, i like the whalbergii a lot. Are you planning on getting any more mantids soon?

Oh yeah, i got some giant shield mantids the other day, theyre fun! I will be getting some female whalbergii very soon, then i think I'll have to leave it for a while - out of cash :(. Will be sending you down some buds, whalbergii, grandis, sphrodo's and violins soon, so you have something to look forward to! (got 2 fertile violin ooths now :)

For the rest of you:
The next 2 images are of my irridesant grandis again, as you can see, gray wings at one angle and then purple at another:

Here are 2 more images of my whalbergii. If you've ever owned one, then you've probably seen it just start going mad with its wings when sitting still, but i finnaly caught it on camera! (does anyone know what thats about by the way?)
Also nightbreed, that would be amusing - also WOOOOO another southern western hobbiest!
Mr M.assassin, those are very nice images! I very much like your mantis, is it an empusa species or what?

I knwo some mantids flair their wings up when they feel threatend to appear bigger, also they rub them together to make a type of hissing sound. with the spots on the wing casings I would believe they are trying to startle a predator
