I was at world famous budgerigar breeder Daniel Lütolf's place the other day. Unfortunately, I did not have my camera with me to photograph his beautiful collection of birds. While looking at the cages, we have noticed that one of his prized females had passed away. It is breeding season and things like this unfortunately happen as breeding is tough on females. I asked him what he would do with the bird and he told me that he was going to thrash it so I took it as snake food. I froze the bird for a couple days to kill the potential parasites and used it in today's feeding.

Here are some pictures:

I also shot a long video and I will post it next week.

In the meantime, here is Mr. Lütolf's website.

The color is sometimes known as Sea Foam and depending on a few things can easily be worth several thousand dollars. One expensive meal!

Yeah, he said it was a special bird. Apparently, there is a lot of interest from Asia. I liked a baby bird there, which was prized 2k and was already sold to someone from Taiwan.

Yeah, photographing that [insert expletive here] is a bit tough mate. He doesn't stop a second and let me take a photo. He is usually constricting my leg while I am trying to get the lighting adjusted.

No excuses. That is what tripods and timers are for. Human thrashing on the floor dodging nips and enveloped in coils is okay as long as we get to see the entire snake.

About time. In the future please remember, it's in it's job description to bite. It's your job to take pictures, pamper critters and get bit a lot. I just can't figure you snake keepers out. From that psychotic tree snake around here that emulates an angry scolopendra to the overfed laconic 'give me a half hour to get around to it' pythons, they all have one thing in common and you got a target permanently painted on your hide then snivel and complain. :sarcasm:
