A Common Nightmare

Well, I just woke up about a half an hour ago from the nightmare that all of my tarantulas were somehow in the same containers and eating each other. I know for a fact that other people on the boards have had this same nightmare before. This was a first for me. I am sort of wondering how a dream like that would be interpreted? A stress dream that is tailored to tarantula hobbyists maybe?

Perhaps subconsciously you want them all to get along, ie wanting peace among species.

I used to have such dreams, but they stopped about 3 years ago. It was usually only two species in the same tank though and they never hurt each other, just stood there, but it was bad because I knew something can happen anytime... and sometimes two species in a big tank + my corn snake. Weird. I'm glad I don't have these dreams anymore. Recently I had a different one though, I saw my B. verdezi's first leg with tibial apophysis on it, and she's a confirmed female... Weird... :D

I had a dream that I woke up to find all of my tarantulas drowning in various areas of standing water in my house: glasses of water, the bathtub, the sink...it was a weird dream.

Gee I just had a dream like that last night!

One T kept attcking the other and I was trying to brush them appart with a paintbrush - eventualy I just gave up and put my hand over the victem T and let the argressive one bite me.

I have dreams like this periododialy involving my other animals as well - so though I have only had T's for 2.5 years - this really is nothing new.

Though normaly the escaped animals don't attack eachother.

I even dream about animals I don't keep in real life. I'll dream I have a monitor lizard for example and then find smaller lizards or snakes in its cage or that it esaped. In RL I have garters, a bearded dragon the Ts and 3 cats.

With the cats - its dreaming that a door or window was left open and they esape... or sometimes I have a cat with me on a dream. I have not dreamed about my cats killing anything though.

In fact the other night I dreamt I was trying to fly to a place (dream flight - not in an airplane) and got turned around. I stopped on some structure that seemed to be made of cubes and one of my cats - who was following me caught up.
There was also a large pink tarantala there. I'm not sure what spieces it was supposed to be... maybe an adult vercicolor as it was multi colored. It kept walking toward me - and I was afraid eather A, I would startle it and it would bite me - or B) My cat would get it. My cat was ignoring it though.

I'm thinking some sort of anxiety dream? Have you been anxious or under a lot of stress lately?

I often dreams about my tarantulas, and often talking in my sleep about spiders and tarantulas! For ex a couple of weeks ago, i asked my girlfriend in my sleep if she was related to a black widow:) /Johan

Good luck, I don't like interviews(been years), some people blow right through them. I think dreams can have a lot of meaning but are sometimes only something like shadows of things that you thought about during the day. Maybe you are worried about being caged up in the same terrarium with the interviewer or worried about being caged up around people you don't like if you get the job.

i often have a similar dream, except it usually involves snakes, and they aren't mine. In my dreams, I'll be walking around a pet store, and look at the reptile display, and see that there are some mixed up together and being eaten, and there are usually a few outside their enclosures, also eating each other... its really creepy, if anyone figures out what this type of dream means, I'd be happy to know... Actually, I think I'm going to post this on a dream interp. forum..

okay. so i posted about this on a dream interpretation forum, mostly about my own dreams with the snakes. I came to the conclusion that all dreams are very personal, and can mean entirely different things to different people.

One thing could be a feeling of helplessness- not being able to control what's going on.
The cannibalism aspect could have something to do with someone overshadowing you, taking credit for things you did, stuff like that. or it could be that you've overcome something big. it depends on how you interpret it.

the common theme intrigues me, but i think its because its something we are all familiar with, and something that we all hold dear. I'm sure there are other ways to dream about tarantulas, but probably not as disturbing as this dream.
