My Aphonopelma chalcodes molted overnight. I've been waiting to confirm the sex of this T for awhile. I know what the sex is but do you? Thought it would be fun to see how many get it right. This T is about 3 inches in size. Good luck.

Totally agree. Any one who messes that one up doesn't have this slightest clue. :p
Congrats on the girl!! Yeah, I know you already knew.

celebrate!

OK, nice you got a female, but just the act of a chalcodes molting should be cause enough to celebrate! I have one that has only molted once. Ever. Ruined the molt. :wall: Maybe by 2010 I'll have something over 2" and sexed. Congrats on your successful molt and sexing! I'm jealous!

The odd thing is she just molted in January. The molt was mangled pretty bad and I just couldn't tell either way. I got up this morning and wow, whats this? Pulled the molt and took this picture. In person the molt is so small you can barely tell, but the picture is very clear. This little girl breaks a 4 consecutive male streak. I'll post a picture of her tomorrow once she hardens up a little.

Well here she is 24 hours after the molt. Didn't grow much, maybe 1/4 inch or so?

Very nice T. And she looks pretty plump considering she just moulted.

She's a beaut! I have been wanting a A. Paysoni but I'm liking the light/dark contrast on your Chalcodes!

I'm psyched now ! I just noticed last night that my girls bald butt, (she was wild caught)is turning dark. She is a little larger than yours. For the most part I am just looking forward to her having a furry rear. {D

Thank you. She really is beautiful. Like you, I love the color contrast. A. chalcodes are way underrated in the hobby. You can pick up slings for a very reasonable price. Of course you WILL need to be patient. Growth rate is pretty slow but its worth it.

Does your A. chalcodes flick hairs much? Mine never has, yet.

Never, she is the most mellow T. in my entire collection. She lost alot of her hair when she was shipped to me this past winter. The post office was not very kind to the box she and 2 others were in.
In fact she was in the worst shape of the 3. At first I thought she was dead and called the dealer I bought her from.
He told me to hold her mouth in a dish of water so she could drink. I thought he was crazy but I was willing to try anything.Amazingly it worked and slowly but surley she came around.
It was touch and go for a few weeks after that but in the end she pulled through.

I know about slow-lol. My son has a couple of G.Rosea slings he bought last Summer that have molted 3 times but are still almost microscopic!
