My Desert blonde just molted & IT apparently payed a visit to the salon. The so called Desert blonde is now a desert redhead. Anyone here know what THE HECK HAPPENED!?!I already asked one of the most highly regarded people on the forums, & he hadn't a clue. So please. Come to my rescue.

Thanx in advance,

Ben

Ben,
How ya doing ?
Do you know what your "Desert blonde" is?
I have about 10 different Aphonopelma sp. in my collection. And most if not all of them have red hairs after they molt. They tend to fade to tan as they age toward their next molt..

Sorry again,

Post molt is always when they have their brightest colors. The red will probably fade to a blonde over time.I have a couple N.vulpinus also known as blondes. They also get quite a bit of red in them fading off to a blonde/strawberry blonde after a while. My young A.chalcodes also has quite a bit of red hues in it after molting.Enjoy it's vibriant new colors before they fade...which even after they fade are still nice....peace..

I have two A. chalcodes and they both changed colors quite a bit after their molts. Before the molt, they were the usual "blonde" color. After the molt, they were both darker and their leg segments were from a reddish-brown to an almost black color.

Since then, they have started to lighten in color some. I figure by the time they are in pre-molt next, they will be back to the blonde coloring.
