No, this isn't a pit fight...I need help deciding on my next T. Which is more active? Which is a heavier webber? Which has a better appetite?

My answer to both of those questions is A. Purpurea.I once had to cut a 4" females web open just to make sure she was still alive. I just got a little A. Purpurea sling from reptist. Id have to say out of all the avics I have recently bought though the A. sp. "Amazonica" started webbing the soonest after I got him and the most in 24 hours.

Most of the avics I have are basically similar in behavior. If you want a heavy webbing avic, I would say Minatrix followed by Bicegoi. As far as active, all of mine are similar in that aspect. They roam around occasionally, but mostly stay to one area.

they are very similar in "personality".

i would go with purpurea, simply because in my opinion they are way prettier.

My versicolor was a heavy webber as an sling before it died. I think if you're picking between avics, they're all going to be quite similar in behavior.

Im not sure I agree I think many people say that you can treat most avics the same and not see much of a difference but Ive observed a lot of difference between my avics. I think there are general care tips for all tarantulas that can work. I also think there are general care tips for all avics that will work. But I think that after you have owned several different avics you will notice things that each avic prefers.

One good example I noticed was that if i keep my A. Purpurea in an area that gets sun light she tended to web so much I could not see her. When I moved her to an area with very little direct light she did not make as thick a web and roamed around the cage more often. I put my A. avic in the spot my A. Purpurea had webbed so much in because I noticed that the A. avic was not webbing very much and there was no change in the amount of webbing or daily movement Over a month. Even though the A. avic was now receiving direct sunlight at some points in the day.

LMAO I have several of both and you can interchange one for the other.

IME some will web alot, some will tear down webs post molt, some are out alot, some are out only at night. There is no hard fast rule when It comes to avis or any T for that matter.

Buy one of each, sit back and enjoy.

A. Purpurea

For the most part I believe there behavior will be similar, but as was stated each individual has its own preferences. I have an A. Purpurea and mine tends to web very heavily even though he almost never sees light. He also likes to roam to a part of his web that is in the open every so often so it is quite common for me to catch glimpses of him daily. I got him as a sling and so far he has been easy to raise. I have only had him a couple months but his growth has been very significant and has tripled in size if not more. I have seen A.Versicolors at Expos and they are very nice to the eyes no doubt on that, but it is rare to see a Purpurea out there. That may not matter to you but i enjoy having a species that isn't so common in the market, not to mention it is a beautiful spider and I'd prefer its majestic royal purple color over a versicolors multicolored body.
