i was at the LPS last night (well, evening) and i saw a cage in the corner with an A. avicularia inside. i had a little chat with the guy, and i came back earlier to pick it up. i don't know why, but i have a soft spot for them.

in all my experience, this is the first tarantula i've handled. 4" female

she was priced at $30, but i had a coupon that bumped it down to $24. considering that i'd have to pay shipping if i ordered online, that sounds like an okay price for an exceptional-looking adult female. she's darker in person, but the flash really brings out her brilliance.
