As a herper long before Ts, I knew of these snakes, nice to see a recent segment on them.

Conservation is important- watch, learn, appreciate

That was pretty interesting. I knew snakes were milked for their venom but I always imagine a room somewhere in which snakes are kept in sterile boxes waiting for their turn to be milked again. It is good to think these snakes are living naturally on this island. I was a little surprised to hear that the snakes' main diet was birds. We were at a zoo once and the children's area was overrun with Abyssinian guinea pigs (apparently there was a breach in the wall that separated the males and females). We asked if they used any of the pigs to feed the snakes and the keeper said that they had too much hair to be used as feed. I would have thought feathers would have put birds in the same category.
