Snakes generally don't travel far within the first 12 hours of escaping. i always found my python fairly close. they also seem to get in the dumbest places. I found my python in a box of coffee filters once. good luck!

My ball python managed to get all of 6-7 feet from his tank before getting cold and scared...and waking me up at 6 AM on a Saturday trying to wedge under my leg. He never broke out again, the little mama's boy. {D

Escapees

They tend to follow walls and hole up somewhere. Our corn got out once overnight. Found the next day in a closet in the same room amongst some junk.

Get down on your hands and knees and try to see how he might have traveled. Keep the door to that room shut. You may want to stick his hide box down next to the wall somewhere in the room.

I don't know if pine snakes are climbers, my corn can climb and was found about 2 feet off the ground.

Also look in "warm" places. We have a 4 foot corn get lose in our store- we found her a couple weeks later curled up ontop of the tv in the back (which we keep running for the cameras in the store- so its always nice and warm )
