How much do these usually cost? I'm seeing them in stores but they are $100.00 or more, is this an appropriate price?

I haven't priced them in a while, but that is not the right price. If you are going to use them for bugs and not for fish, then you don't need one that is water tight. So you can pick one up at a yard sale or on Craig's list pretty cheap, used. Internet stores don't ship aquariums, but they ship the tops, and you can usually get tops off internet shops a lot cheaper than you can at stores, if you can't find the right top on craig's list. Even if you go online to petco, you will find online petco prices are cheaper than instore petco prices.

Wait, if they sell 15 gallons and screen tops to fit, that would actually be better than a 20 gallon. I prefer watertight, never know in the future if I will use it for fish or mabye amphibians.

15 gallons are essentially tall 10 gallons, they have the same width and length, they are just taller. so any lid that would fit a 10 gal would also fit a 15 gal.

get a 20 gallon LONG in that case. a 20L will measure 30" x 12" x 12" [LxWxH]

whereas a "regular" 20 gal will measure 24" x 12" x 16" [LxWxH]

All I have by me is Petco and another small pet store, a family business, so i hope they will sell one for a cheap price.

Heres a 20 gal long I kept some S. heros in for a while. My plexi- dividers never really worked all that well. They were able to climb the silicone in the corners. They couldnt get past the screen lid, but they were able to intermingle and I lost one that way. I think I paid about $30 for it in Kansas City

check with your local aquarium club/clubs. Even in our little city our members have gobs of aquariums we trade away or sell for little or nothing. Just do a search for aquariumm clubs for the major city by you.

I picked up a used 20L at a reptile show last year for 10 bucks. It had been used for mouse breeding, so most of the silicone was gone, and the rim around the top had been chewed on in places. I kept a few different snakes in it over the last year as they were working their way up to larger enclosures, and now, ironically, I'm using it for mouse breeding.
