Steven you're just being mean, taunting all of us who don't have access to these amazing looking pedes. Wonderful picture, I'm on the verge of

Hi Steven,

Is it even a scolopendra? The terminal legs look pretty unusual, but i can't tell from that angle.

Cheers,

Hehe, the reason has nothing to do with the key...

The type-species for the genus Trachycormocephalus is Trachycormocephalus mirabilis (Porat 1876). But Trachycormocephalus mirabilis is transfered into Scolopendra mirabilis. All the keys that are typical for this genus are represented by the type-species.
In this case the whole genus will be transfered into the "new" genus, because all members of this genus show this keys. The key of the new genus (Scolopendra in this case) will be expanded with this keys - or they are new discussed. Anyway, the type-species that show the typical keys isn't present in the genus anymore and the genus will be synonymized for this reason.

So the genus Trachycormocephalus (Kraepelin 1903) isn't valid anymore.

That doesn't mean that this is not one of the species of the genus Trachycormocephalus, but they are labeled wrong if we follow Attems.

Cheers Jochen
