They are certainly not rare around here, although really shy, so I couldn't say they are a common sight. This was a lucky situation indeed, heard some noise from the leaf litter on the side of the path, so when I spotted it was already on the move, in spite of the bushy surroundings managed to step in its way repeatedly, so he took up a defensive position pretty soon making bluff strikes occasionally. Holding its ground I was able to take some shots (in spite of the poor lighting), then I let him get away.
