venison anyone?

mmmmm, its frozen, so its fresh...hehe
Was that harvested or did you find it like that? I want to start hunting but not sure what bow to start with.

@Ratmosphere

This week two of our (my groups) dogs were gone for a bit on 3 occassions....my Dolly was one of these dogs...we knew they were on a deer carcass as their breath smelled like venison....lol.

Today I followed Dolly and caught her...and located the problem carcass.

@Ratmosphere

I don't hunt, fishing is more my thing...I like that I can release the fish unharmed...hard to do with a 30-06 or an arrow...lol. Nothing against hunting, I do love the venison.

My area has an unreal deer population....New York has its rats, Chicago has its cockroaches...Oak Creek, WI has deer in similar abundance.

@Ratmosphere depends what style you want to shoot. Compounds the easiest to start with. And more expensive.

Recurves harder to get used to. But they're usually cheaper. Harder to get used to too if you're new to shooting. But still great fun.

@cold blood I know the deer problem, but in my area it's mainly wild boar - and they can be really dangerous. Packs of wild boars or even single males have been responsible for a few dog's death... (btw, what do you call a pack of boars in English?)

@boina

"The name for a group of pigs depends on the animals' ages. A group of young pigs is called a drift, drove or litter. Groups of older pigs are called a sounder of swine"
