Sub-adult Fem P Metallica Emerging

Really starting to show some great colouration, she's not very shy either and is kept in the quietest part of our house. No flash was used in the photo (does the flash scare them? I've never used it because I fear it might surprise them), only indirect sunlight!
I use the flash on my group and they have never reacted to it at all. There are some who are sensitive to light, though. Not sure if your girl is one of them, but none of mine are.

@VanessaS Thank you I appreciate this information! Knowing how hyper-sensitive a lot of old worlds are I was a bit apprehensive, its good to know they won't mind :)

Mine is deathly photophobic tho flash doesn't seem to scare her since it only lasts a second. Pointing a flashlight at her makes her go insane tho.
I have 2 sides of the enclosure blocked out so it's tad darker in there

@Tuffz Ah, thank you that's good to know :)! I keep my collection near a north window and have the blinds closed, so it stays generally pretty dim where they are kept, I push her enclosure right back into the alcove above my wardrobe so the cork bark tunnel remains completely dark. I totally sympathize with using flashlights I also have 2 P. Rufilata who are about 7-8" and the moment I use a flashlight to sneak a peak no matter how dim, they poof and vanish ;-;!

My P. metallicas are all photophobic, but it varies. My largest, a subadult as well reacts extremely to it in some cases, yet at the exact same time, will sit there for days with a light directly on her, cleaning herself or just doing regular spider things. The young ones act like it's not there.

@Toxoderidae It almost sounds like it depends if they're in the mood to have light on them, i.e. perhaps when they are exhibiting hunting behaviour they become alert and sensitive to brightness? My p. metallica is still out of her silk cocoon and its just after midday here in Ontario. Also I hear that each specimen typically has its own disposition, maybe some individuals who are generally classified as "reclusive" are really good display specimens?

@N8Legged I ordered it from Dawn at Tangled in Webs from Toronto, about 2 years ago :3. I used to house an Ethmostigmus Trigonopodus centipede in it, and a female Latrodectus sp. hesperus (Western black widow) before that so the lock has come in handy. I paid around $50, and it's 7"x7"x14", and I believe she still sells them if you live in Ontario!
