How did you get her to pose like that? And I thought Pokies were -- er -- defensive. And how did you get her back into her cage. Why didn't she bolt? I'm so confused
HDR settings will not really help with glare issues. It uses bracketed exposures (usually 3 photos) to take one under exposed, one normal exposure, and one over exposed. It merges these together to give a color range that one normally would never see in a naturally exposed photo. It looks good but doesn't represent the actual colors of the subject.
Most of the time with glare you want to adjust the angle the photo is taken from. Usually outside, during the day, a subject with little reflective surfaces will be fine by just moving slightly one way or another to help move the glare.
Many times a photo will look a lot duller/covered in a sheen then the original subject due to the white balance being off for the setting your trying to shoot in. For me, when I am doing portraits, I'll have the subject hold a white card and manually set a custom white balance. In the real world, it is harder to adjust this value as you or the subject moves around. In these cases, I shoot in normal auto white balance and then adjust the tone in Photoshop during post processing the photo using the tone setting. You can adjust the tone of the photo to remove the glare/sheen without altering the colors very much.
I shoot mostly indoors using soft light boxes and prior to bringing out the T (or most other subjects) I card adjust the white balance to reduce later adjustments needed.
