Ah, great to hear everything is doing well Zesty! Yes, T's can inevitably "lose" their legs if they feel uncomfortable in a situation, however it should be noted that these species have incredible regeneration so it's only temporary. I feel for you, I have 10 old world species, including 4 arboreal, 3 fossorial and 3 terrestrial and I've had to transfer them/maintain their enclosures for the past few years. So I totally understand how they can just bolt/(cough cough teleport) as my Harpactira Marksi nearly took off just last week xD, and it reminded me of your story! All part of the learning process, my advice when dealing with Old World T's is to have a soft paint brush to transfer them with/ a VERY long pair of stainless steel tongs to feed and maintain them with, and just be patient, some days I don't dare open up my Monocentropus Balfouri enclosure, if she's out and about - she's very very defensive.
