Neopantopsalis pentheter

A mature male of a species as equally stunning as they are large. A max sized adult male can have a horizontal legspan of about 6" (15cm). The species displays strong sexual dimorphism, males being black, red, and green with metallic blue and gold. Males also have outrageously elongated chelicerae
Wow. He's impressive. I've never heard of a harvestman species having that big of a legspan. Really cool. Where are they found?
They are found in large range across northern New South Wales and Southern Queensland. They occur in many rainforest areas across this area, where they spend their days flattened against mossy rocks or legs almost always in close proximity to rivers or other bodies of water.

This species is probably my absolute favourite in Australia, I've got the first known captive breeding for this species and I believe the entire family (which spans all across Australia, NZ and I think when Tasmania). The females are bright metallic green with mottled brown, black and white spots. They don't get quite as large as the mature males but still reasonably large.

They are almost exclusively scavengers and seem to refuse live prey of any kind or size in a captive setting, but readily eat fruit and fish flakes

Thanks! Really interesting stuff.
