Megasoma sleeperi

An extremely rare member of its genus. Due to the rarity of this species, little is known.

They feed on tree sap from paloverdes and mesquite, and larvae, like other megasoma, are xylophagous, feeding on rotting wood- in this case, Blue Paloverde wood
I love beetles :) I always wanted a hercules beetle, but the only male I ever found was already dead and ant-infested, and I was 6.

Hmmmm. I've been feeding these guys to my wc chalcodes male like popcorn. Whoops. No more of that! It's back to generic May beetles for him.

@Dovey i doubt that, megasoma sleeperi is confined to extreme southeast california

HOWEVER, Megasoma punctulatum is very similar, gets slightly larger
