Young adult female--do we think smithi or hamorii? I was told it was originally sold as a smithi but I am leaning towards hamorii based on the tone of the knee bands; but the demarcations on the lower leg are fairly sharp as well, so that made me wonder. Probably 4-4.5" DLS. Photo 1.
This is hamorii. The difference in colour can be used to distinguish between the two as pure smithi have a vibrant orange that continues through both the orange segments of their legs. With hamorii the second segment on each leg (not the knees) will be a paler. Hamorii often have much darker carapaces than smithi, possessing a greater amount of darker setae, though this is not always a reliable to tell them apart as the amount can vary (sometimes hugely) from specimen to specimen. The main giveaway that your girl is a hamorii are the markings on her patella: between the large dark lines seen on the red sections of her 'knees', you can see a smaller dark marking near the very top of the patella (most obvious with your girl on her front 'knees'), these are exclusive to hamorii. A true smithi wouldn't possess these, here is a pic of my large smithi for comparison, you'll notice her patella have the lage dark lines but not the smaller dark marking in between: Brachypelma smithi (ex annitha) | Arachnoboards
