Have a versicolor who molted recently and his pedipalps look pretty large and I'm wondering if he's a male and just matured at a small size. Thanks for the help.
It doesn't look mature. The terminal segments of the palps still look to be tarsi, rather than the palpal bulbs and emboli of mature males. There are also no visible tibial spurs.
@Quicksilver, Its normal for especially arboreal T's to have enlarged footpads, It maximizes surface area for better traction to terrain they interact with.
It's not a mature male. Arboreals have large footpads, this is what enables them to climb so well. The best way to sex a tarantula is looking at the exuvium. If spermathecae is present, it's a female. If not, it's a male. Take the time and educate yourself on how the palps of a mature male looks like, and how to sex via exuvium, so you'll know what to look for
