Help!

Can somebody please tell me what tarantula this is? I bought it at my local pet store as a black velvet tarantula.
Looks like a Haplopelma, but would need a better picture to ID at the species level. Give her a ton of dryer substrate to burrow in as soon as possible. These have been known to die from stress if they don't have a burrow. Seeing as you bought her from a pet store I would assume she didn't have a burrow there either.
With some tarantulas you can give them a hide and they would burrow, but that won't do for Haplopelma spp. Give her at least her height worth of burrowing space and let her be. Good luck and by God don't get bitten.

What Jade said. Haplopelma, probably vonwirthi. Let it dig deep and keep your hands off.

H vonwirthi sounds good, glad you agree.

Let me correct myself:
When I said "give her at least her height worth of burrowing space" I meant her leg span. She'll need a minimum of 8" to burrow.

Just sayin they prefer moist sub over dry. They may not even burrow if it's dry. They come from Southeast Asia so they need high humidity. Best way to do that is restrict airflow and have moist sub. I suggest watching spiderengineer's videos on haplo cre on youtube
