Arrived 7/8/23
feeder is too big
It was prekilled and she's a tiny sling (can't overfeed). I'll toss what she doesn't eat tonight. :-}
I'm not fond of wasting either, but she was scared of the red runner nymphs and the cricket I had remaining was also too big and went to another T.

It was weird, she stalked the red runner (great to watch), then jumped at it. When she landed on it, she jumped back like she was shocked and then ran from it. They can't bite, so I've no idea what happened there.

i have had a red runner nymph that killed a mantid more than twice its size, i hadn't noticed it was in premolt ....

they can be fearsome and i always crush them partially before feeding now

no more lively S. lateralis

That's awful! I'm so sorry to hear you lost your mantid. And thank you for the warning. I should qualify, I read they can't bite, but logically anything with a mandible can bite.

its fine, i got 4 and it turned out to be 3 males and one female, i lost another one to bloating when the temperatures were still low

i didnt know you could overfeed them, but thats possible too... only if temperatures are low as well...

anyway, you live and learn thats why i got 4 of them and not 2, now both remaining male and female are adult and i am feeding them up

hopefully she starts getting recepitive soon
